ALL CHOKED UP

This is an AU based on the second-season episode, "Wild Adventure."

            Smith had their position plotted and written on a piece of paper. John and Don were demanding that he hand it over to them. Smith was refusing to do so.

            Don said, "I'll get it from him, John!" and started forward.

            Smith promptly put it in his mouth, and mumbled, "One step closer, Major, and I'll swallow it."

            John and Don exchanged a determined look and charged. Smith attempted to carry out his threat, and choked. The wad was too big. They tackled him. Smith coughed, gagged, and gurgled. The men turned him on his side. John thumped his back, and Don drove a careful fist into his solar plexus. The wad popped out onto the floor. The men retrieved it and rose. Smith looked up at them, panting.

            "We saved the paper," Don said.

            "We saved Smith," John said.

            "I wish I knew which you valued more," Smith grumbled grudgingly.

            They couldn't help smiling. And Don couldn't resist saying, "Well, either way, Smith, we enjoyed it."

            Smith gasped angrily, and coughed hard.

            John asked, "Are you all right?" They moved toward him.

            He waved them away hastily. "I'm fine! Please, no more!"
